Young talent often surprises us with extraordinary creativity, and Anaya Vadher is one such shining example. A 12-year-old Grade 6 student of Birla Sagar Higher Secondary School, Porbandar, Anaya is blessed with a curious mind and artistic spirit. Being the daughter of well-known medical professionals Dr. Jiten Vadher and Dr. Hiral Vadher, she has nurtured values of dedication and excellence from an early age. Her interests include reading, drawing, dancing and creative writing. Demonstrating remarkable imagination and maturity beyond her years, she has authored a beautiful story (short novel) that reflects her creative thinking and love for storytelling. Her work at such a young age is truly inspiring for other children.
Her story is a delightful piece of creative writing filled with imagination, simple storytelling and meaningful values for young readers. The story reflects her innocent perspective, creative ideas and her ability to express thoughts in an engaging way. Despite her young age, her writing shows confidence and originality which makes the story enjoyable especially for children. this story about a girl named Lara, her little brother Roy and her younger sister Nina. They are cousins and are going to do something that you will find in this book. So, come on! let’s read it!
1st story – PANDA
Ch.1 Something in the bushes
It was a cold night in Porbandar Gujarat when, Lara came and sat in her courtyard. She could see stars shining, wind singing and cooing of a bird. She just thought to herself, “How good the night is, I feel nice.” When her cousin and sibling, Roy and Nina came behind her. Roy asked “What are you doing outside Lara?” Lara answered “I was just looking at the sky. How beautiful it is!” “It is indeed!” said Nina who was till now quiet and listening to both of them.
Let’s sleep here, in the courtyard tonight! It would be fun.” said Lara. “Good idea” said Roy. “I will go and ask mom to give us permission” said Nina, “she will also help us in bringing out the mattresses and
cushions.” Nina and her mother together brought out the mattress and decorated it with cushions. Roy and Lara brought some food and drinks along with little bulbs. Then, the three of them slept on the mattress looking at the sky. They had first enjoyed the food and drink and were done talking.
It was morning, cock was crowing, It was shining bright when Nina woke up. She then looked at Roy and Lara who were fast asleep. She was just thinking what she will do know, but sudden she heard a voice in the bush she woke up Roy and Lara. They both too heard the voice and were curious to know who was it. Lara went ahead towards the bushes, but Nina stopped her, she was almost crying and was scared Lara and Roy both came to Nina and calmed her down. Then, mother told them to brush their teeth and come quickly for breakfast.
All of them went to brush their teeth and ate breakfast. Lara was still curious to know what was it in the bushes and whispered to Roy such that Nina couldn’t hear otherwise she will again start crying, “What do you think it was in the bushes?” Roy replied in low tone too “I don’t know but I want to know.” “Let’s make Nina brave, we can explain it to her, I think she will understand.” Lara said. “Yes! Then we can go to bushes and see what was it?” They both went to Nina and tried to make her understand. She cried a little bit, but then agreed.
Ch.2 Following the Footprints
The triplets then headed toward the thick green bushes at the back of the courtyard. They heard a strange sound – a soft crunch, crunch coming from the leaves. “Is there someone hiding?” Lara asked. They pushed the branches aside and looked into the dark shadows, but they could not find anything. The bushes were empty, but the ground was not. “Look at this,” the oldest cousin said.
On the ground, there was a strange, round footprint. It had five thick marks from little claws. It was not a cat, not a dog. Near the print, they saw a piece of bamboo that had been chewed up a little. They looked further and saw another. Then another one. The footprints did not stay by the bushes. They led away, moving deeper into the forest. The trio then, went back to home. They told their mothers the whole story and seeked for permission to go further in the forest. The two mothers hesitated but let them go.
Then, the three of them or the team discovering something or someone, who knows, packed some safety things, food to ea and bunch of bamboos, what if they found it, whatever i was, and offered it some and became friends! On their way to following the footprints, Nina asked “will the journey be dangerous?” “It might be” said Roy. “but we will face it together So, we will not be in trouble Said Lara encouraging both of them.
ch.3 The Dangerous Journey
The three of them walked into the deep forest. The trees were very tall and the sunlight could not reach the ground. So, it was dark. It was very quiet, except for the sound of rustling of dry leaves as they walked through them. Every time they walked forward and saw the round footprints, the felt a little bit scared but they didn’t stop.
After walking for sometime, the trio were exhausted. “Let’s rest for a while” said Roy as he sat on a flat large rectangular stone. “Yes please!” said Nina who was very tired. “Okay, as you wish” said Lara, who was still excited and wanted to go further.
While they were eating the food they had brought, Nina looked at a thorny bush near “Look! that is suspicious,” Nina whispered pointing to a sharp branch on which there was stuck some fur. However the thing which was different was that the fur didn’t seem to be fur of an animal which can be in Gujarat and especially in Porbandar. It was white in color along with black.
“No animal in this forest has fur like that” Lara said touching the soft fur.
Then, they looked at the ground again. Near the fur, the found a piece of bamboo that had been chewed into a perfect, round ball. This was a big hint. Now they realized that this animal was not a normal forest animal. It was something special from a different part of the world.
The three of them quickly finished their food. They were not just tired anymore, they were excited. They picked up their bags and followed the round footprints deeper into the forest.
As they were walking, they came to see many different animals like deer, rabbits, dogs and cats but they were not interested in them they were interested in that animal who had round footprints and black and white fur.
They walked for some hour and finally reached a cave where the footprints ended.
Ch.4 Animal in the Cave and the idea
As they stood in the front of the cave, Nina started crying. Roy and Lara calmed her asking what the matter was. Nina said “I am very scared. It is already 6 o’clock and if we will be late it would be dark. What if some wild animal comes and eats us! Mom had said not to go very deep into the forest.” she continued. “I may be possible that this is a lion’s cave. I suggest we should go back.” Roy and Lara agreed. As they walked back, Roy had an idea!
He said “What if we use the knit we bought for safety and cut that bamboos into small pieces!” He continued, “After, we reach home the animal will also come eating the bamboo. Thus, the bamboo will lead the animal to us!” “What a great idea!” said Lara, “Then, with the help of father and uncle, we can install cam over the bushes and see what that animal looks like and is!” Nina said “you both had a very nice idea, but, let’s quickly cut the bamboos and start dropping in the way; we have to reach home before it gets dark.” Lara said “Relax Nina we will reach home before 8pm I promise.”
Then, Roy and Lara started cutting the bamboos. Once all the bamboos were cut, they filled a bag of pieces of bamboo headed back towards home along with dropping bamboo pieces on their way to home.
ch.5 Camera Installation
Till 8 p.m., according to Lara’s promise the trio reached home. Then, told the whole story to their fathers. Lara and Nina went to their father with the request of Camera installation and Roy went to his father in his room with the same request. The fathers agreed. However there was no camera at home. So, the cousins and fathers went to by a camera and it didn’t matter that it was night. They came home and fathers installed the camera the three children again slept in the courtyard.
ch.6 The Search Ends here
Next morning, when Lara wakes up first, she looks around but both her cousin and sibling were asleep. She quickly woke them up and reminds them of the camera installation and they had to see it today. Three of them were very excited and jumped out of the mattress. And went to their fathers in a jiffy. They quickly opened the camera in their phone and started looking at the recordings.
To their surprise, the animal was a PANDA – a sweet, cutie, tiny little panda.
Roy said “Do you remember, we saw bamboo? Pandas do eat bamboo very much.” Lara said “And remember, the white and black fur we saw in the forest?” Nina said “And the footprints were also round like panda’s baby and tiny paws.” Then, Roy’s father which was uncle of Nina and Lara said “but in India there are no pandas especially in Gujarat! Nina and Lara’s father who w uncle of Roy said “Then, Ho did this tiny little panda camera here?”
ch.7 A Wild Hello
Nina said “let’s go to the panda I love pandas.” Roy said “It was very small and cute.” Lara said “Yes! I can’t wait to go the panda.” The fathers said “We will go to the panda, however, this time we will also come. The journey is dangerous.” Mothers said “We will give you some snacks so that you can eat in the way and also give you some food and water the panda! What if they it becomes your friend!”.
The trio were very excited and headed towards the forest. In few hours, the finally reached the cave. “Is it panda’s cave only are you all sure about it? The fathers asked together “Yes! we are hundred percent sure” said Roy. “Yes! we are absolutely sure” said Lara. “Yes! I am not sure and scared too, but I believe in the both of them” Nina said. Father of one Roy said, “You all wait here, first, I will go check whether it is or not.”
When Uncle or Father, went inside, He saw a cute little panda sitting over there with a bunch of bamboo.
He called the children and the father inside the cave. The trio were delighted to see it. “Awww!” said Nina. “So cute!” said Lara. “So tiny!” said Roy. Lara quickly took out some pieces of bamboo and tried to give it to the panda. To her surprise, It ate it! even after i had finished eating that piece he licked her hand. “Nina, Roy come, try it too, see, It likes us!”. said Lara They both also tried and enjoyed making it eat. “Should we take it home?” asked Roy. Surprisingly, The fathers agreed. So, they took it home and trio slept with it in courtyard again.
Ch.8 The black and White mystery
Next morning, The Panda woke up first, he licked Roy then Nina and then Lara. All of them woke up by that and hugged the m panda with a warm smile. Then, the trio and panda after bushing went to the dining table and ate breakfast. Nina made the Panda eat some pieces, pieces of Bamboo. Roy made the Panda drink some milk. Lara made the Panda eat some fruits. Roy patted the Panda lovingly. The Panda had enjoyed its breakfast very much.
The fathers them came to the dining table and told the trio that they had to find about the panda, its owner, and where it came and how it came here. Lara said “First of all, we need to find about its owner. So, we can get to know further things.” Roy said “Pandas are popular in China, should we find out that if its owner is in China?” “That’s a good idea.” said Lara Then, the two of them looked at fathers their fathers. They understood that they needed their help to find out about it. They agreed.
After the fathers went back into their rooms to find out about the panda’s history, Roy and Lara looked at Nina who looked upset and worried. “What is it Nina?” Roy asked. “Why are upset?” Lara asked. “Now the matter is solved right?” Roy asked. “You should be happy for the baby panda.” said Lara. Now, Nina said hesitating “Umm, Actually, th-the problem is that if the Panda will return back to its owner, we will not be able to see it again, never!” “You are right” said Roy. “But it is not right for the Panda.” said Lara.
“You have the time until they find about the owner Nina, you can play with it till then.” Now, it was Lara and Nina’s mother who said this. She had come and had secretly heard their talking. Nina and both the other kids went in the courtyard to play with the baby panda. In the afternoon, when they were all having lunch, the fathers said “We have found out that the owners are from china only. Here is one of their photos with the baby panda” They showed them the picture, “They had named it Oreo.”
Nina had an idea; she thought that if she will show the picture to the panda it will be happy to see its owners. She showed it the picture, but, to her surprise, the Panda had started crying, tears rolled down his cheeks as he stepped backwards. “It can be tears of happiness.” Nina said. Else “No, something is the matter.” Lara said as she pointed to the Panda who was shivering. “Can you find out if they were good to him? What if they tortured it?” asked Roy to his father. “Yes please” said Nina.
Then, the trio sat beside the Panda and calmed him. After a few hours, the fathers came, they had found that the owners were cruel and tortured the Panda and in their trip to Porbandar Gujarat in India, they had left them him to die in the forest. The trio were very angry and were expecting themselves to take a serious action. “We will teach them a good lesson.” said Lara. “We will be the Panda’s shield.” said Roy. “All the very best to us” said Nina.
The Fathers said “Their owners are in India only but in Ahmedabad.” “That’s good thing; they are in my city, after all I live there.” said Roy excitingly. The trio requested their fathers to go to Ahmedabad. The fathers agreed.
Ch.9 The Panda’s Shield
The trio then, with their fathers in plane, reached Ahmedabad. There, they came to know that the owners, the couple was participating in a competition which was held in Ahmedabad at 7. a.m. in the morning. They had adopted a new pet, a golden retriever. Lara said “I’m sure they would be treating him like the baby panda only.” “I have a plan” said Roy, “We can also take part in that competition. We will use Panda as a pet. Then, we go to the competition and there, we can teach them a lesson.” “What lesson and how?” asked Nina. “I don’t know but we will do something” said Roy. “Let’s do it!” said Lara encouraging everyone. They all went to sleep after that. In the morning at sharp 7. a.m., they were all at the competition and what a coincidence that the team competing with them was of the couple! The competition started. When, the couple came to know that who were their competitors and what they had as their pets, they said “We don’t want to participate.” and ran towards the exit.
The trio also said the same and ran towards the exit following them. After, a few minutes, they were still running when Nina stopped and cried “I can’t run more!” exhaustingly. Lara said “No problem.” She pulled out a stick of bamboo from her bag and threw it aiming to hit the couple’s legs. It hit exactly on the leg and they fell. Lara and Roy quickly ran towards them. Lara threw some itching powder on them. Roy smeared some whipped cream on them.
Nina tied them with a rope, however, she couldn’t so, she asked for help to fathers. After doing all that, they took the couple home and looked them in a room. Then, they called police.
Soon, the police came and arrested them.
Ch.10 The Price and Name
The news of the brave act by Lara, Roy and Nina spread like wildfire. The previous day, they had successfully caught the criminals who had illegally adopted and tortured the poor panda. The next morning, the children woke up to a huge surprise. Their names and photos were splashed across the front page of the National newspaper the headline read: Brave Children Save Panda! The Government invited them to a big ceremony. The minister praised their bravery and gave them gold medals. The school also honored them for their great work.
Then, later that evening, they were allowed to visit the panda at the wildlife sanctuary. The Panda, now clean and healthy, seemed to recognize its saviors. From being ordinary students to becoming national heroes, Lara, Roy and Nina had finally earned the Praise and Name they deserved.
WHAT’S IN THIS STORY
Two sisters named Lara and Nina, with their cousin Roy, went on a mysterious journey finding an animal by evidence. The animal was unknown.
